GET TO KNOW THE ARTIST
Fernanda Irene Salazar-Casanova is a Venezuelan American oil painter and digital artist with a BFA from the University of Central Oklahoma. Their need to create expands into drag, music, and acting. They were born in Caracas, Venezuela and immigrated to the United States in 2008. Ever since they were able to get their hands on whatever art supplies were lying around they developed a love for creating. A large inspiration of theirs is their uncle, who has a well renowned art career in their home country. Fernanda’s artwork heavily revolves around their identity as an immigrant and as a queer individual. Their imagery tends to be distorted or at times be deemed grotesque. The pieces that they create are an oath to getting to know themselves, and further understanding the world around them through the vessel of creation one concept at a time.
